Abstract

Carbonaceous macrofossils., viz., Churia Tawuia, Sinosabeellidites, Protoarenico, Beltina the organic-walled microfossils belonging to Leiosphared, Myxococcoides, Eomycetopsis and vase-shaped forms are recorded from the Halkal Formation, Bhima Group, Karnataka. The overall assemblage supports an older age than the Vendian i.e. 1000-850 Ma.
